Spiderhost and tekGIANTS Offer Free Network Analysis and Design to Contest Winner

Spiderhost’s latest contest will give one Orlando organization a more efficient IT network for free
Orlando, FL – Spiderhost, a privately owned custom IT solutions, managed services, and data center company, announces its latest contest, the Crappiest Network Contest.
In December 2008 Spiderhost ran the Crappiest Website Contest. Now they’re back with the Crappiest Network Contest.
Like the website contest, the Crappiest Network Contest is designed to ferret out the worst-of-the-worst in one segment of the Orlando-area IT landscape. With this contest, it’s networking.
What makes a network bad? “Ten-year-old servers, PCs not in cases, cabling running across the office, old equipment, sloppy cabling, stuffed crammed in closets,” says Dale Frohman, Spiderhost president.
tekGIANTS, an IT support and consulting firm based in Lake Mary that merged with Spiderhost in February, will implement the network analysis and design for the contest winner.
Says Frohman, “tekGIANTS are the office network experts, so this is a perfect fit for them.”
tekGIANTS president Tony Greco adds, “Spiderhost has a lot of fun ideas like this, and we’re looking forward to working with the contest winner on this one. The winner can expect a more efficient and cleaner network.”
Companies and organizations interested in winning can submit their entries at http://www.spiderhost.com/crappiestnetwork. Spiderhost and tekGIANTS will choose one or more winners based largely on the video component of the entry, which is a 120-second YouTube video detailing entrants’ bad networks.
The winner will receive a $5,000 network makeover, including hardware and service.
“The main issues are physicalness and age – how bad is their equipment? And how old is it?” adds Greco. “We know there are some sorely-neglected networks out there, and we’re going to fix up the worst one we can find!”
